Suzlon bags contract from Surat Municipal Corpn
Wind turbine maker Suzlon has won a contract from Surat Municipal Corporation to set up an 8.4 MW wind energy project in Gujarat. However, the financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
Under the contract, the Pune based company will set up, operate and maintain the project, which comprises four units of its own S95 2.1 MW turbines. The project will be commissioned in early 2013 (calendar year), the c Belstaffs ompany said in a statement.

The new project will augment the civic body existing wind pow Belstaffs er portfolio to 11.4 MW. Once commissioned, the project will help it to reduce its carbon footprint by eliminating about 15,000 tonnes of carbon di oxide emissions per annum.
Suzlon Belstaffs Group is ranked as the world fifth largest wind turbine supplier in terms of cumulative installed capacity as of 2011.
Surat Municipal Corporation is the first civic body to set up a wind power project in the country. Earlier, Suzlon had supplied a 3 MW wind power project in 2010 to SMC in Adodar, Gujarat.
